DevLog #1 ~ Insprations
My small game's art style is inspired by anime from the 80s and 90s. Another source of inspiration for me was one of my favorite Mario games, a simple game with tight controls that allows you to do any world in any order you want after the first level, as well as making those levels deep and fun to play, with hidden exits and alternative paths that allow players to play the game how they want. Monkeys are another source of inspiration because they are simply adorable in some games, as seen in the images above. I like colorful art styles, styles that catch the person's eye with strong but not too in your face box arts. Because I believe that a lot of video game box art nowadays looks the same, with many having minimalistic artwork or being far too cookie cutter.
